Me: “Why did you get me and not some other Mom?”
Jack: “You’re not allowed to get a different mom when you already have a mom.”
Me: “Why did you get me and not Sydney and Shaylyn’s mom, Tracey?”
Jack: “Kids are not allowed to trade moms.”
Me: “What was I like as a little girl?”
Me: “What was I like as a little girl?”
Jack: “You were very cute. You liked to ride your bike, scooter, run, and all that kind of girl stuff.”
Me: “What did I need to know about Dad before I married him?”

Jack: “You had to do know that he was going to be nice to you and behave to your children.”
Me: “Why did I marry Daddy?

Me: “If you could change one thing about me as your Mom, what would it be?”
Jack: “When you’re bad I would change your heart into good.”Me: “If you could change one thing about me as your Mom, what would it be?”
I was expecting classic "kids say the funniest things" answers but what I got was kind of cute and sweet (except for that last one, which makes me sound like the devil). Jack was very serious about this interview and considered each question carefully. Which, again, makes me concerned about that last one. Apparently, I sometimes have a bad heart and if given a chance he would change it to good. Ouch!!!
You might try a video interview as well. They are hysterical to watch years later! Ask them things like who the president is, and what's the biggest number they can think of...
ReplyDeleteJulie: “Why do kids have moms?”
ReplyDeleteTully: “Moms make kids.”
Me: “How are moms made?”
Tully: “Exactly like kids.”
Me: “Why did you get me and not some other Mom?”
Tully: “Because my Dad married you and you made me. And you were like the chosen one.”
Me: “Why did you get me and not Tyler's and Bea's moms?”
Tully: “That's kind of like the last question.”
Me: “What was I like as a little girl?”
Tully: “A lot like me. We were both kids and we were both made the same way.”
Me: “What did I need to know about Dad before I married him?”
Tully: “What his name is, if he's religious or not, if he's a spy or not (giggle). And other things.”
Me: “Why did I marry Daddy?
Tully: “Because you liked him.”
Me: “Who's the boss at our house?”
Tully: “You and Daddy.”
Me: “What do I do in my spare time?”
Tully: “You do what you want to do. Sew, garden.”
Me: “What would it take to make me perfect?”
Tully: “No one is perfect. A lot of things.”
Me: “If you could change one thing about me as your Mom, what would it be?”
Tully: “You would play more.”
I'm so glad you did that, Julie! It was really fun to read. :) My favorite answer of his is the one from the second to last question: "No one is perfect. A lot of things." Ha! I'd love to have you be a guest blogger. Anytime you want, just write something up and send it to me.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Do you find yourself checking my spelling and grammar out of habit? :)
Ha! I don't do grammar anymore.
